Yesteryear Collection

Six Yesteryear models, five of which had pre-1990 liveries were made at the China factory and released in July 1991. Originally the six models were made as a special order for Poland. However, due to Polish political and economic problems, the order was cancelled and matchbox decided to distribute the models through Woolworths and Tesco stores in the UK.

Their significance was that Matchbox Toys had re-issued obsolete models which had originally been made in Macau and which now had 'Made in China' baseplates. They also packaged these re-runs in J2 maroon boxes, marked 'Made in China'.

The six models became known as the "Chinese six" and consist of...
Y2-4 Bentley in blue (Issue 10)
Y4-4 Duesenburg in silver (Issue 34)
Y14-4 ERA in blue and yellow (Issue 5 & 6)
Y19-3 Morris Van in BRASSO trim (Issue 4)
Y22-1 Ford Model 'A' Van in Lyons trim (Issue 4)
Y22-1 Ford Model 'A' Van in Cherry Blossom trim (Issue 2)

The production run of each model was only 5000 and are therefore very collectable.
